The Beginning...!
In 1996 I achieved a long standing ambition, to own an Afghan Hound...!
Having years ago; seen Chris Amoo's win at Crufts with his dog, Gable. I decided that very day, no matter how long it took, I must have an a Afghan Hound.
Pictured Below: Chris Amoo's, Crufts 1987 Supreme Champion Viscount Grant. A vision of absolute beauty, which to this day remains firmly etched on my mind.

THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Nine years later, I bought an Afghan puppy of my own. Pictured left: Tempany, Molriq Unchanied Melody. A lovely Brindle puppy, out of Mr John Mort's, Molriq Calypso. I was encouraged by John and Claire, to Show Tempany at the local open show at Deeside, where she achieved a second place win, first time out. I continued Showing her, moving on to Championship level, where she qualified for Crufts at Manchester, handled by (Mrs Pat Latimer), owner of Tempany's sire, Champion Zharook Hooked On Love. Much to my delight, we were also introduced to the joys of Afghan Racing, currently held at the Thornton Road Stadium in Ellesmere Port on the first Sunday of every month, from March through to November. I throughly reccommend that you make a visit to see the fun for yourself...! Pictured Right: Tempany and Amenti awaiting the next race. Although our two girls are not very speedy, they absolutely love racing and make the most of being allowed off the lead to run freely, in safety.
Tempany, At The Northern Afghan Hound Championship Show.

In 1999 I applied for the Hakmet Affix (Kennel Name), as I had decided to breed from
Tempany and she was subsequently mated to Chris Amoo's, Champion Sade Beryk. She had a litter of 12 pups but only nine survived. Pictured Right: Tempany With Nine Beautiful Puppies. The little bitch we kept we named Amenti, (Egyptian Meaning: Goddess With Long Flowing Blonde Hair). Pictured Below Left: Hakmet Aton Aspect Of The Sun. Amenti also qualified for Crufts at her first show, following my absence from the Show Ring for a few years; this time handled by Mrs Claire Kirk. Pictured Below Right: Amenti, at Breed Show in Manchester handled by myself. My husband Taff and I made the big decision to have a further litter of puppies with Amenti in 2004,
but her coming into season coincided with a long awaited trip to Australia. So the mating with Claire Kirks Istani Against All Odds JW, was postponed to February 2005. New Years eve of 2004 brought the devastating news that Amenti's mum Tempany, was diagnosed with a Squamous Cell Carcinoma (a tumour in the nose). Since
then she has received a course of Radio Therapy treatment at Cambridge University Veterinary School, which has gained her a slightly longer life
expectancy but unhappily not a cure. This dreadful news made us even more determined, that on the dawning of her next season, Amenti's planned mating to the lovely Yaris, Istani Against All Odds (owned by Claire Kirk) should definitely go ahead. The temperament and Show quality from Tempany's line of breeding was much too good to lose. Pictured Right: Yaris, Istani Against All Odds. Pictured Left: A very heavilly pregnant Amenti, full of pups with only a few more days to go. Our lady in waiting in her most comfortable position. Happily on the 9th April 2005, we
were blessed with the arrival of eight very healthy puppies, with a fairly straight forward labour. What a fantastic Mum Amenti has since proved to be. Pictured Left: Amenti's first born, Ashraf. Aproximately ten minutes old. He was a very big pup and was stuck in the birth canal for some time, holding up the delivery of his litter brothers and sisters. This is the order in which they were all born. Ashraf, Remmy, Savannah, Kabul, Lydia, the second, Rory, Ayesha and Lydia. Pictured Right: A very proud Mum with her new arrivals. Four dogs and four bitches, a lovely even litter. Once the puppies are six months of age, it is our intention to Show the three babies who are to remain with us, Ayesha, Hakmet Black Gold Texas Tea. Ashraf, Hakmet Golden Pharoah and Kabul, Hakmet Clogau Welsh Gold. Pictured Below Left to Right:

MOLRIQ UNCHAINED MELODY 16th MARCH 1996 - 3rd JUNE 2005
'SHE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN'
Creation Verse
When God had made the Earth and Sky.
The flowers and the trees.
He then made all the animals.
And all the birds and bees.
And when His work was finished.
Not one was quite the same.
He said, "I'll walk this earth of mine
And give each one a name:"
And so He travelled land and sea.
And everywhere He went.
A little creature followed Him,
Untill it's strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth.
And in the sky and sea.
The little creature said, "Dear Lord,
There's not one left for me."
The Father smiled and softly said,
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
And called you Dog my Friend."

Show Time:
I am delighted to say that our two male puppies, Ashraf and Kabul have started out well in their show careers. At present Ashraf, Hakmet Golden Pharaoh heads the leader board having gained a V.H.C at the Birmingham Afghan Hound Club Championship Show, (handled by Claire Kirk) back in November 2005 under Judge, Mrs C Humphries (Knossos). Then going on to win Best Puppy In Show at the Yorkshire Afghan Society Open Show (handled by Claire Kirk) in January 2006, under Judge Mrs Pauline Gibbs (Montravia). Pictured Above Left: Claire handling Ashraf, Judge Mrs Pauline Gibbs. John Mort handling Lydia, Hakmet Band Of Gold, (Kabul and Ash's litter sister...), also (Reserve Best Puppy) and myself (for photo only) with Pinto, Istani Truly Madly Deeply, one of Claire's own puppies. Going on to win the Reserve Best Puppy In Show title, at the Northern Afghan
Hound Society Championship Show (Also handled by Claire Kirk) in March 2006. Pictured Right: The Northern Afghan Hound Society Championship Show: Claire Kirk handling Ashraf, with Show Judges Mr T. Jepson and Mrs Audrey Bell. Kabul, Hakmet Clogau Welsh Gold also competed in the same class at this show, (handled by myself) and gained second place behind his brother Ashraf. Pictured Left: Kabul second behind brother Ashraf.
Both puppies have now qualified for Crufts 2007.
Alas, our little bitch puppy Ayesha, has yet to prove herself. When she matures a little, we hope she will begin to follow in her brothers footsteps. (She says, tongue firmly in cheek...!) I don't think she will ever grow up....! Pictured: Ayesha, the lady in question, having just emptied the fish pond and now sitting next to 'Geoffrey' the batsman..!! Soaking wet and filthy dirty, trying unsuccessfully to look innocent...!

STAR OF THE LITTER
Lydia, Hakmet Band Of Gold (owned by John Mort and Claire Kirk), quickly gaind her Junior Warrant and gained a third at Crufts 2006 automatically quallifying for next year. She has had several good results before and since. Pictured: Lydia, Hakmet Band Of Gold at Crufts 2006.
Our other puppies are coming along very nicely. Rory, Hakmet Silence Is Golden At Threadgold, has had many good results and has also qualified for Crufts. Pictured Below Left: Rory. After a somewhat shaky start, litter sister Savannah, Hakmet Good As Gold At Threadgold has had to be re-homed and is now happily living with Rory. Since then, I am relieved to say, she has come on leaps and bounds. Pictured Below Right. Savannah. Both are owned and spoilt rotten by Mrs Sue Steele (Threadgold).

Our fourth male puppy, is now called Remmy, Hakmet King Tuts Gold...! Owned by Beverley and Steve Hare. A lovely boy again. He is doing the occasional show but he is more of a pet to his owners and loved to bits...! Pictured Left: Remmy.

CRUFTS 2007
We had a wonderful time. After a lot of preparation and frazzled nerves, leading up to the big day, Kabul and I won our first card, in the biggest and best dog show in the world. Kabul gained a 3rd in Yearling Dog, under Judge: Mrs D Waterman. Alas, Ashraf did not make the final cut in Under Graduate Dog but he enjoyed himself nonetheless. Over in the Bitches Ring, Lydia, the boys litter sister, gained a V.H.C (Very Highly Commended) in Graduate Bitch, Under Judge Mrs P. A Latimer. Needless to say I am very proud of both dogs.
