New Season
Starting March 2010, Right through to November

Ayeshsa (a.k.a The French Tart)
On the first Sunday of the month, enthusiastic Afghan Hound owners (and indeed owners of other breeds) are able to race their dogs in a safe environment at the Stadium in Ellesmere Port.
As afghans are notoriously unpredictable and renowned for going stone deaf when off their leads, (to follow pursuits known only to them..!) this is a wonderful opportunity for you to give your hounds a good run without them getting into trouble.
Our boys and girls absolutely love racing and go crazy in the car as we near the stadium. Even Amenti (Our 10 year old Afghan) strains at the leash to get onto the track, despite her advancing years and the fact that she has never been known for her speed. Other breeds and of course their owners, are more than welcome too. So if you think your dog would like to have a go at chasing the hare, then why not come along and give it a go....!
Amongst our members, we have the the smallest dogs, a group of Border Terriers who get so excited at the thought of chasing the hare, that they yap constantly from the moment they step onto the track to the second the hare stops at the end of the course.
We all love to watch these little chaps because their enthusiasm is never ending. They are a great source of entertainment and a joy to watch. Also racing with us are, Salukis, Greyhounds, whippets, Cocker Spaniels, Pharaoh Hounds, and we even have a Doberman that runs and reaches some very respectable times.
Not only do we have the racing, as a regular feature we hold a brabeque in the summer months (weather permitting) and a Raffle every month, tickets selling at £1.00 per strip. All proceeds go back into the club funds to help with running costs etc.
Introducing The Hakmet Team

LEFT TO RIGHT:AMENTI, AYESHA AND KABUL
Amenti: Hakmet Aton Aspect Of The Sun
Born 1999
Favorite Place: Upside down and fast asleep on the sofa, once having got rid of all those bothersome cushions...! Will whoever it is that keeps putting them back....please stop..!
Born of a racing star, Tempany (Molriq Unchained Melody) Who was famous at N.W.A.R and E.P.A.R for never finishing a race. Amenti however, does actually finish her races but is invariably last. Where she lacks in zoom zoom....!, she makes up in enthusiasm and doesn't she like to shout about it. She can be heard voicing her opinions from one side of the track to the other.
Her way of thinking of this great sport, is surely slow but steady and she gets there in the end, if it works for her then that's all that matters. As a result of her advancing years we have however reduced her to the 100 yard dash. She tries very hard but is however, familliar with the phrase of having the sand kicked in your face..!
Amenti is a fantastic Mum to her little ones..! (not so little now of course...!) Definite high order here, a real lady and has sole command of her troops. They all do as she says, there is NO question about it.

In the year 2005B.P (Before Puppies...!)
We had a beautiful garden, a mass of glorious summer blooms everywhere you looked. Alas now....naught but a barren desert....!
WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE..?
AYESHA: Hakmet Black Gold Texas Tea
Born 2005
Litter Sister to the boys below. Ayesha definitely rules the roost over the boys. She knows exactly who is the boss..! Has real attitude and thinks herself a Scrap Yard dog..! Possesses a very dubious sense of humour and as a puppy liked to take little nips at unsuspecting parts. Happily now she has grown out of of that particular trait. Although if there is any mischief to be found you can bet she is in the middle of it. Ayesha is also a scarlet lady...! She has a reputation in racing circles as being a bit of a 'French Tart'. I have to mention in her defense at this point, that this came about after I made her a very fetching pink racing jacket, trimmed with white lace. I thought she looked more like a waitress but never one to resist a challenge....if it was a 'French Tart' they wanted, then a 'French Tart' they would get..! She now sports a very sleek racy red basque, trimmed with black lace, sequins and marabou feathers. All I can say now is, watch out boys...she will lead you astray..! She is a real minx!
What flowers mum..?
KABUL: HAKMET CLOGAU WELSH GOLD
BORN 2005
'Happy Go Lucky' are the key words here. Loves to sit on your lap, especially if you sit cross legged on the floor. Always better if you happen to be drinking a hot cup of coffee at the same time! Nothing more comfortable than a human lap. Pity his mother didn't tell him he is far too big to be a lap dog! Kabul is very laid back but takes absolutely everything in, he knows exactly what is going on. He has taken to racing like a duck to water, clocking some brilliant times. Once out of the traps, there's no stopping him! Eats just about everything, including tables, chairs, French windows, radiator surrounds, the lot...! Cannot be described as picky... He lets Ayesha think she's the boss but he KNOWS different.
What flowers mum?
